What is a Crystal Essence? A crystal essence is usually a water or oil based preparation that carries the signature of the energies of the crystals used in making it. The crystal essence is distilled and diluted through three stages until the appropriate reduction is reached, using the theory that the lesser strength of the original mixture essence the more potent the vibration. Your choice of crystals to make an essence would be similar to those chosen for other methods of crystal healing.

When to use a Crystal Essence When ingrained unhelpful thought patterns seem fixed When you (or client) are unable to use other forms of crystal healing May be taken internally (NB with some notable POISONOUS exceptions) With other healing modalities e.g. massage, reflexology, kinesiology… As an emergency remedy, e.g. headaches, first aid, pain… To encourage spiritual development When you would use other forms of crystal energies!!

How to use a Crystal Essence NB only use gem essences if you are sure the crystals are safe - some contain potentially Poisonous minerals - ALWAYS look at the chemistry of a mineral BEFORE using it. Here are a few suggestions of how to use a crystal essence, but use your imagination and use the guideline 'if it feels right, it IS right' Place a few drops on the tongue Place drops on the pulse points Place drops on the affected area e.g. on the temple for easing a headache - NB not to an open wound Place a few drops in the bath before soaking in it Add to food or drink Place drops on a radiator or light bulb For added potency affirm a positive statement whilst taking or applying the essence. The number of drops used varies for each essence, the purpose and the individual taking it. However, a guideline is two to four drops upto four times a day.

Equipment Crystal(s) cleansed physically and metaphysically Clear Glass bowl Measuring Jug Pipette Distilled or Mineral Water (process takes into account the mineral content) Preservative (Brandy, Vodka) Three clear quartz points Funnel Labels Notebook Pendulum (or other familiar form of divination)

Making the Essence Collect your cleansed crystals and place them carefully in a glass container*. Cover them with the water and leave for anything from a few minutes to several hours. I check the time needed with my pendulum. Whilst you are preparing the essence, at this and the other stages, focus on why you are making it and what you want to achieve with its help. This really adds to the efficacy of the essence. After the allotted time, gently remove the crystals with sterilised tongs. You now have the original mixture. This may be used at this strength or diluted, or may be made into the mother essence.

Mother Bottle This is the first stage of the crystal essence process. The mother bottle contains the original mixture and a preservative, usually alcohol. It is the least dilute liquid and it is from this mixture that the other stages are made. If stored in dark bottles in the dry and away from sunlight, this mixture should last indefinitely. This mixture is made of one third of the original liquid and to two thirds preservative.

Stock Bottle This bottle contains a few drops of the mother bottle, preservative and the water. Dowse, using a pendulum or other familiar method, at each stage to ensure correct mix has been made. This mixture is made of one half preservative and one half water with the addition of the dowsed number of drops of the Mother Stock.

Dosage Bottle This is the last stage and this bottle contains the mixture that will be used. This mixture is made of two thirds water and one third preservative and with the addition of the dowsed number of drops of the Stock Bottle (sometimes of the Mother Stock). Always check and re-check if necessary, the exact amount of water, preservative and the number of drops from either the Mother or Stock bottle with your pendulum. Alternatively, the dowsed number of drops of the Stock Bottle (sometimes of the Mother Stock) may be placed in 100% oil. Dowse for the best type of oil to be used.

Labelling and Storage Label ALL bottles with Crystals used Preservative used State Mother, Stock or Dosage Bottle Date made Use by date Frequency of drops to be taken or number of times to apply Store in cleansed area, away from sunlight in a dry and protected place and distanced from TV's, microwaves, computer screens, hi-fi speakers or magnets. Record in your notebook the crystals that you used and the number of drops put in at each stage Bottles containing any stage of the essence may be placed within a triangle of Clear Quartz, to enhance and protect it. NB. Nursing or expectant mothers are advised not to use strong essences and it is recommended that advice of a qualified practitioner I sought, working with crystal essences does not replace medical treatment. NB.If you are unsure if the crystal is safe to ingest or touch the skin, place the chosen crystals inside a glass bowl and put that bowl into the bowl of water. The rest of the procedure is the same. However, IF IN DOUBT DO NOT USE.
