Fossils

Fossils are the mineralised remains, or impressions of animals or plants that existed in a past geological age and are embedded and preserved in rock, or similar material. They can be upto 600 million years old! The word fossil comes from the Latin word fossilis, meaning dug up. The study of fossils is called paleontology.
Fossils that you may see here may include both natural and polished Ammonites, Fossilised Fish including Diplomystus and Knightia, Nautilius, Orthocerus, Sand Dollars and Septarian (Septre Eye), Amber and Copal that may have insects in them, Fossilised Wood Dinosaur Bones and even Dinosaur Poo!
